[Hyper-V]: storvsc: ring buffer failures may result in I/O freeze
Last modified: 2015-04-22 11:49:48 UTC
Hi openSUSE Team, Please take this fix from the upstream kernel. This fixes a potential IO freeze issue on Hyper-V and Azure when using multiple disks and RAID devices under heavy load: https://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/drivers/scsi/storvsc_drv.c?id=e86fb5e8ab95f10ec5f2e9430119d5d35020c951 storvsc: ring buffer failures may result in I/O freeze When ring buffer returns an error indicating retry, storvsc may not return a proper error code to SCSI when bounce buffer is not used. This has introduced I/O freeze on RAID running atop storvsc devices. This patch fixes it by always returning a proper error code. Signed-off-by: Long Li <longli@microsoft.com> Reviewed-by: K. Y. Srinivasan <kys@microsoft.com> Signed-off-by: Christoph Hellwig <hch@lst.de> cc: stable@vger.kernel.org This bug is filed for openSUSE 13.2, but please apply this patch to openSUSE 13.1 as well (or I can file a separate bug if needed). This patch has already been pulled into SLES 11 and SLES 12 branches by our friends at SUSE, but we want to make sure openSUSE has this as well. Thanks!
Now merged to openSUSE-13.1 and openSUSE-13.2 git branches. Thanks for reporting.
