KDM3 screenshot of greeter with StdFont size obeyed by menus

in the 12.1 KDM3 installation used here, forcing of DPI is via xorg.conf DisplaySize
in all attached screenshots, kdmrc StdFont is set to 12, while Xorg DPI is forced to 144

In KDM3, StdFont size from kdmrc is applied to most text in both the greeter window and its menus. This is not the case with KDM4, whose menu text size can be unreasonably small, with no apparent way to fix it except by applying a theme.
