libvirt, Failed to initialize libnetcontrol. Management of interface devices is disabled
Last modified: 2022-06-26 14:19:30 UTC
Since I switched from Argon 15.3 to Tumbleweed. I get this about the libvirtd service : * libvirtd.service - Virtualization daemon Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/libvirtd.service; enabled; vendor preset: disabled) Active: inactive (dead) since Sat 2022-06-25 15:08:05 CEST; 9min ago TriggeredBy: * libvirtd-ro.socket * libvirtd.socket * libvirtd-admin.socket Docs: man:libvirtd(8) https://libvirt.org Process: 17820 ExecStart=/usr/sbin/libvirtd $LIBVIRTD_ARGS (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS) Main PID: 17820 (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS) CPU: 211ms Jun 25 15:06:05 localhost.localdomain systemd[1]: Starting Virtualization daemon... (In reply to Episteme PROMENEUR from comment #0) > Jun 25 15:06:05 localhost.localdomain libvirtd[17820]: Failed to initialize > libnetcontrol. Management of interface devices is disabled This behavior is not new and has been unchanged in libvirt for years. In order to manage host network interfaces (ethx, bondx, vlanx, bridgex, etc), libvirt needs libnetcontrol, which requires wicked. You are using NetworkManager for host network interface management, not wicked. If you really want to use libvirt for that purpose (not recommended), then switch to wicked for host network management. Otherwise libvirt should work fine without wicked.
