Description Inge Wendenius 2020-10-26 12:00:44 UTC
Official updates are no longer reliable?

I've got a problem with official updates smashing Conqueror on my two computers.
I only work with Leap 15.2.
- One new computer with an HDD - System installed from a stick I created from the official website.
- On my second computer Leap 15.2 is installed from an official bought disc.
I used Firefox and Conqueror on both computers and always load the offered updates.

But after the first official updates I got the same problem on both.

Error message is:
"Die Aktion lässt sich nicht ausführen
Das Protokoll konq kann nicht initialisiert werden.
Technische Ursache: Erstellung des Ein-/Ausgabemoduls nicht möglich
Details der Anfrage:
    • Adresse: konq:konqueror
    • Protokoll: konq
    • Datum und Zeit: Montag, 26. Oktober 2020 10:30:57 CET
    • Zusätzliche Informationen: Meldung von klauncher: Unbekanntes Protokoll „konq“.
Beschreibung:

There are more error messages naming packages not found for updates.

Many years now official updates always were reliable - until now. What's wrong with openSUSE?

That's caused by an upstream change in konqueror 20.04.
The introduction page now only works with webenginepart. You can install the package manually (and configure konqueror to use it as default if necessary) as a workaround.

Of course you could also set a different start page if you prefer.

Konqueror should work fine otherwise though.

And btw, that's not a regression in an official update. It's how the standard version in Leap 15.2 behaves (due to upstream changes, as mentioned).

The bug is fixed. Konqueror works fine.
It was not a missing webenginepart (because it was installed) nor a different startpage.
The critical factor was to get webenginepart as a selectable webbrowser, what perhaps was performed through a background process.

I would like to add a short comment as I had the chance to do a second test.
Basically webenginepart is installed. But Konqueror needs wegenginepart.so, which was not present. After installing this programm, in the Konqueror settings webenginpart can be selected as webbrowser.

Sorry, I have no idea what went wrong for you.

webenginepart.so is of course part of the webenginepart package.
I.e. if the webenginepart package is installed, webenginepart.so should be there on your system.

I don't see a problem with some update here (there wasn't any for konqueror anyway).

Maybe your user's plugins cache didn't get updated in time though...
