invisible network thumbnail in breeze standard

The icon/thumbnail for network management is invisible in the control bar. This appears in both colour flavors, breeze standard and breeze-dark

Hm, the icon shows up fine here, with both breeze and breeze dark Plasma themes.

Just to be sure, what *desktop* theme are you using?
grep -A1 Theme .config/plasmarc

Does it work on a fresh user account?

If yes, maybe try to delete the plasma cache on your normal account, ~/.cache/plasma-theme*.

If not, you could try to reinstall the plasma-framework package (that contains the icon), maybe the file on your system got corrupted somehow?
sudo zypper in -f plasma-framework
(and to be sure, delete the plasma cache in this case as well)
