Description Matthias Schünemann 2019-03-11 18:57:45 UTC
It is not possible to start the backintime GUI via the search menu. There is no entry in the software menus anymore either and starting it from console yields
me@PC:~> backintime

Back In Time
Version: 1.1.24

Back In Time comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY.
This is free software, and you are welcome to redistribute it
under certain conditions; type `backintime --license' for details.

me@PC:~>
and no GUI.

Backintime is doing its thing, though. Right after each boot a backup is run -- but I can't change the parameters anymore.

'backintime' has always been the console-only command to trigger backups, 'backintime-qt4' is the GUI. Please check you still have that (package 'backintime-qt4') installed, you may have removed it by accident as it was recently failing to start due to Python changes in Tumbleweed.

Uarghhh. Such an easy solution. I did not consciously remove 'backintime-qt4', but it was not (anymore) installed. I re-installed it, all is back to normal.

Thanks for your help and sorry to be a bother :(.

No problem, it was broken/uninstallable for a bit of time recently so you have a good excuse. Happy to help.
