settings dialog

OS: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20180425
KDE Plasma version: 5.12.4

The login sound for KDE Plasma is never played. It does play fine in the preview in the settings dialog, it's just a regular Ogg Vorbis file (see attachment).

I've already reported this to KDE, but it seems to work on other distributions.

This *is* an upstream issue IMHO.

The code in Plasma passes an invalid QUrl to phonon IIRC.
(which happens to work with the VLC backend for some reason, but not gstreamer which is the default)

Add "file://" in front of the file path in .config/plasma_notifyrc and it should work, i.e. something like this:
[Event/startkde]
Action=Sound
Execute=
KTTS=
Logfile=
Sound=file:///home/test/Desktop/login.ogg   <=====
TTS=

Or install phonon4qt5-backend-vlc.

Closing as UPSTREAM for now, althoug I do intend to propose a fix myself.
Comment 2 Wolfgang Bauer 2018-04-30 12:26:36 UTC
Will be fixed in Plasma 5.12.5 (to be released tomorrow, so I see no point really to add a patch to our package at this point).

I will submit an update for Leap 42.3 as well (therefore reopening this report), but not before Wednesday...

Update released for Leap 42.3 meanwhile, 15.0 had it fixed right from the start.
