KDE NM Software Applet Details

Given TW20180301 with plasma-nm5-5.12.2-1.1.x86_64, the KDE software applet does not show the correct security information (i.e. "Unbekannter Sicherheitstyp" should be "WPA2-PSK"). Upstream bug? Works fine on current Leap 15.0 (with KDE Plasma 5.12.1).

I should mention that the above issue appears with NetworkManager from https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/Vogtinator:/branches:/GNOME:/Factory/openSUSE_Factory/, which solves https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1079672.
Comment 2 Fabian Vogt 2018-03-03 17:59:34 UTC
Please upload ~/.local/share/sddm/xorg-session.log and the output of "nmcli con show uuid" where uuid is the uuid of the connection printed by "nmcli con show".

xorg-session.log and nmcli output

Here we go.
Comment 4 Frank Krüger 2018-03-03 18:40:36 UTC
Do not know whether this helps: After suspend the security information "WPA2-PSK" is shown correctly.
Comment 5 Fabian Vogt 2018-03-03 18:45:36 UTC
I was able to reproduce the issue with the version of NM from TW as well.

It's actually two bugs:
- NM provides an invalid value for AccessPoint Flags (only one is defined, but two are set)
- plasma-nm treats the value of Flags wrongly

I made a patch and submitted it upstream: https://phabricator.kde.org/D10997

As it's just a cosmetic issue I don't think we need this as a package, if you want one just tell.

Thanks for reporting!

FYI, the issue has not been solved yet with Leap 15.0 Build 174.1 and KDE Frameworks 5.44.

Yes, it's part of Frameworks 5.45.

NM_Applet

The issue seems to be back with TW20201105 (see attachment). Any idea? Thx.

Somehow, the issue disappeared. Sorry for the noise.

When that happens again, this command provides useful information:

nm="qdbus-qt5 --system org.freedesktop.NetworkManager"; for i in $($nm | grep AccessPoint/); do ap="$nm $i org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.AccessPoint."; ${ap}Ssid; ${ap}Flags; ${ap}WpaFlags; ${ap}RsnFlags; echo -; done
