Description Markus Elfring 2017-12-08 11:45:09 UTC
I can click on a link together with pressing the key “Ctrl” in the application “XFCE4 Terminal 0.8.6-34.1”.
https://docs.xfce.org/apps/terminal/usage#%20To%20compose%20an%20email

A new mail could be edited by the program “Mozilla Thunderbird 52.5.0-1.7” (for example).
Now I observe that two slashes are placed before the mail address in the input field “To:”.

This functionality worked without these extra characters for a while. Under which circumstances will they be omitted there again?
Comment 1 Stefan Seyfried 2017-12-09 12:49:33 UTC
This issue has been introduced upstream by commit
https://git.xfce.org/apps/xfce4-terminal/commit/?id=5175d5ef5e6c9e92f4d296948528ac4bef35fe9d

I guess they had a reason to implement this.
Please file a bug at https://bugzilla.xfce.org/ to get this fixed upstream.

Thanks for a link to this commit.

I find the handling of email addresses still questionable then for the program “xfce4-terminal”. How do you think about to forward this bug report?
Comment 3 Stefan Seyfried 2017-12-09 13:47:46 UTC
Yes, please do so.

Have you got an account in the other issue tracking system already?
Comment 5 Stefan Seyfried 2017-12-09 14:30:39 UTC
I probably have one but will need to dig out the credentials.

Will this story result in consequences for the quality assurance system?

Comment 7 Stefan Seyfried 2017-12-09 15:38:05 UTC
I don't think this is tested by openQA or I would have gotten notice of this much earlier (0.8.6 entered Factory on 2017-11-30, and only after it passed openQA in staging I guess).
Comment 8 Markus Elfring 2017-12-09 16:30:13 UTC
(In reply to Stefan Seyfried from comment #7)

Will the openQA system get any extensions for XFCE software?
Comment 9 Stefan Seyfried 2017-12-09 21:52:40 UTC
Certainly possible, if someone implementes it.

I personally think the openQA infrastructure can be put to better use than testing such minor annoyances.

This is an autogenerated message for OBS integration:
This bug (1071961) was mentioned in
https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/556031 Factory / xfce4-terminal
Comment 12 Stefan Seyfried 2017-12-11 18:43:09 UTC
Upstream has also just reverted the commit:
https://git.xfce.org/apps/xfce4-terminal/commit/?id=b92bc2299c01ba3364ad8518c8eb9c8d87a2dde9

Fix is on its way to factory.
