Description Johannes Segitz 2015-02-18 08:38:22 UTC
CVE-2014-9683

http://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=942080643bce061c3dd9d5718d3b745dcb39a8bc

Dmitry Chernenkov used KASAN to discover that eCryptfs writes past the end of the allocated buffer during encrypted filename decoding. This fix corrects the issue by getting rid of the unnecessary 0 write when the current bit offset is 2.
Comment 1 Michal Hocko 2015-02-18 09:54:13 UTC
I thought the crypto code should encrypt the _data_ not the code itself... Sigh.

Anway pushed to SLE11-SP1-TD. Older TD branches are not affected. I also think this is more a memory corruption bug than something for CVE... AFAICS the overflow matters only when the dst area is multiple of word because allocator does allocated in the word chunks.
